Who We Are

The Centerville Historical Society was founded in 1966.  The Society later changed its name to the Centerville Washington Township Historical Society to include the unincorporated area to tell the complete story of our community and fulfill the mission of the organization.  In 2016 the Society changed its name to Centerville-Washington History.

Our Mission is to connect the community to its heritage by collecting, preserving, interpreting, and promoting the history of our local area.  In order to fulfill this mission the Society shall seek to collect and preserve all items, data and information of historical interest of the City of Centerville and Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio; to buy, sell, lease, rent, hold in trust, display, use and store materials and sites of historical interest or significance, including, but not limited to, books, pictures, paintings, land patents, deeds, fire-arms, furniture, currency, antiques, homes or other buildings; to provide means and methods of disseminating educational materials of the historical heritage of Centerville and Washington Township, and to purchase, lease, or in any manner acquire, hold, own, use, sell, operate, and manage all property, real or personal, necessary or incidental for the purposes herein expressed.
